Sexuality is something to be experienced with all of your available senses and who doesn’t know that some of the most sensual joys in life are meant to be touched. That’s why Lisa J. Murphy’s Tactile Mind is so alluring.
Recognizing that the adult market is unfair to the visually-impaired, Murphy set out to create a ”half art object, half artisanal concept book. It contains explicit softcore images that are raised from its pages, along with Braille text and photos. The effect of the tactile, plastic “images” is a bit like that of an ancient Greek bas-relief. Or, somewhat less precisely, a smutty pop-up book.” (Toronto Star)
The book is impressive in many ways, including the fact that’s it’s 13 to 15 centimetres thick when shut and costs $225 per numbered, signed copy.
“Murphy hinted at a more graphic book in the future featuring couples, but hasn’t started on it yet. So to stoke the fires of anticipation, she’s released a smaller series. Tactile Atelier Bookmark, which is intended to literally be a placeholder until she completes her next published work. It consists of four pages, done in the same sexy style; only this time, Murphy wanted to display the female form in sexy lingerie.” (SexIs)
